I have a wordpress website with a domain for life. Is possible to place a php forum on a link....a sort of subdomain on my site ?

Yes this is possible. All you need to do is install the forum software into a subdomain of the main domain (e.g. www.forum.mydomain.com) and then add a link on the WordPress site to it.
