DNS Server issues

Howdy.

Just want to confirm something. I ordered the 3 year package and when I ordred I choose the transfer exsisting domain option. Last night I was using the IP addie of the server to set things up via FTP/browser.. then just before bed I tried the URL and it worked. This morning though the DNS servers are pointing back to the old server.

What I did:
1) registered for hostpapa.ca account
2) transfered all files from host1 to hostpapa via ftp
3) went to regsitrar site and updated DNS info to the info in the joining email

anyways, just want to confirm if I had to update the DNS info when I choose to transfer the domain name.... Does this mean hostpapa.ca is now my registrar for renewal etc etc?
