I've some problems sending and receiving messages to/from hotmail users.

If I try to send any email to hotmail, here is the error response

"  alatorre@hotmail. com
SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL FROM:<alatorre@logicsite. com> SIZE=50093:
host mx3. hotmail. com [65. 54. 244. 72]: 550 Your e-mail was rejected for policy reasons on this gateway.  Reasons for rejection may be related to content such as obscene language, graphics, or spam-like characteristics (or) other reputation problems.  For sender troubleshooting information, please go to hxxp: postmaster. msn. com.   Please note:
if you are an end-user please contact your E-mail/Internet Service Provider for assistance. "

IF from Hotmail I try to send to alatorre@logicsite. com, I got this error at hotmail

"Reporting-MTA: dns;bay0-omc1-s24. bay0. hotmail. com

This is a MSN/Hotmail issue.

Microsoft has just announced that they are now requiring that email sent to MSN/Hotmail accounts must use Microsoft Sender I. D.  or the email will be marked with a big yellow box and put in the junk folder or maybe even deleted.

You will need to follow Microsoft’s guidelines to get the issue corrected.  This is a policy that Microsoft users must follow if they want their email to go to MSN/Hotmail users.

You can read more about this here: hxxp: www. lockergnome. com/nexus/windows/2005/06/23/hotmail-users-wondering-where-your-email-has-gone-look-in-your-junkfolder/

Microsofts Sender ID website with all information on setup, can be found here:
hxxp: www. microsoft. com/mscorp/safety/technologies/senderid/default. mspx

You would need to set up an SPF record for your DNS, more about that here: hxxp: www. microsoft. com/mscorp/safety/technologies/senderid/resources. mspx#EOH

"This multi step wizard guides you through the process of creating a new Sender Policy Framework (SPF) record for your Domain Name System (DNS) domain.  You should add this record to your domain's DNS zone file configuration.

Note: The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) recommends that PTR not be included within SPF records because of the increased chance of error rates and additional DNS traffic.

You are encouraged to e-mail Microsoft after you post your SPF record to the DNS.  This will help ensure that your record is automatically included in the SIDF cache and reduce DNS latency.  Send an e-mail message with your domain name in the body of the message (for example, mydomain. com) to senderid@microsoft. com.  If you have multiple domain names, list each domain on a separate line in the body of the message. "

Microsoft offers a 'wizard' that will walk you through the process of setting up the SPF record here: hxxp: www. microsoft. com/mscorp/safety/content/technologies/senderid/wizard/

However, you can also create it at this site too, if you'd prefer: hxxp: spf. pobox. com/

Once it has been added to your DNS zone file, you would then need to contact Microsoft at the above listed email address and give them the required information so that your emails will be able to reach your customers at Hotmail.

Seems like a whole lot to go though just to email Hotmail/MSN users.   I say tell them all to get free Gmail accounts instead.    Grin

Well it is more than just switching hotmail, some customers uses Prodigy to connect to internet their whole company, and those users are being affected as well.

Are we abble to manage our DNS Zone to add the TXT and SPF Records to it? or this must be done by Host Papa?

I'm getting similar errors from comcast, pacbell. net, earthlink. net, prodigy. net and sbcglobal. net.  All blocked because they've flagged hostpapa as allowing spam.

I'm going to send hostpapa's support a message and see what they have to say.

Hostpapa's support got back to me in less than two hours, and we exchanged a few messages regarding my issue.  They stated they would contact the providers rejecting e-mails and ask them to modify their filters.  I have not had a chance to test the results yet, but will post after doing so.

So far, I'm happy with hostpapa's support.

I worked with Hostpapa's support and Apple's support to resolve my issue.  Took a bit of work on my part, but we got the problem resolved.  If your isn't resolved yet I recommend you open a ticket with hostpapa support.  I found them helpful and professional.
