Hi, (not sure if my 1st post was received by the forum so posting it again)

I have used Joomla! 1.5 to build site content and also used forms build with Chronoforms. I am unable to get the email settings working for these systems.

I have the forms on the site but when the user clicks 'Submit' I need to get the autoresponse email sent to them and a notification to me that they have submitted information. I cannot do this as I do not know the required settings of the host server email set up.

Can anyone tell me what to do. I have no knowledge of PHP script so please be patient and keep it simple for me.

At the moment the settings on Joomla config show the mailer is PHP mail function and the sendmail path is /usr/sbin/sendmail.

Hi, JWIG

I'm using Joomla 1.59 and have the same settings as use (PHP mail function, sendmail path /usr/sbin/sendmail);  I've also filled in the "mail from" with an email address and "from name" - and it seems to be able to send mail...  I logged into the system last night and used one of the comment fields to successfully send a message to myself, so it seems to be working.

I wonder if the problem is with your forms?  I haven't used "Chronoforms" before - does it use the Joomla mail handling facilities or does it have its own?  If you've got a contact set up in Joomla (I have a "contact Webmaster" menu item that just uses the standard "Contact Layout"), you might want to try sending mail from a "Joomla contact" form to try to troubleshoot it...

I'm not a Joomla expert so can't really point you where to look other than this.  Perhaps the Joomla support forums?
