For the past few days I have been trying to secure my email with the SSL certificate I purchased for my domain domain.ca and I'm starting to wonder if there are any hostpapa clients who have been successful at setting this up and having it work 100%.

When I send using a domain.ca SSL configured email account it does not get delivered (unless I send it to another domain.ca SSL configured email account).

My PHP contact form worked like a charm until I activated the SSL and now it looks like it works giving the expected "thank you, your message has been sent" but then it never gets delivered to the destination.

If I send using an external email account to a domain.ca SSL configured email account that seems to work fine (but of course when I try to reply the mail goes out and does not get delivered to the destination).

Strange that out of the three domain.ca SSL configured email accounts I have created one of them displays a "failed" error when I try to send and receive. Of course, tried redoing the password and triple checked the settings even made sure no blanks after any of the account settings and also tried with + instead of @ in the account name field - nogo.

I have turned my email accounts inside out, deleted and recreated using the hostpapa auto config for new email accounts, juggling ports, resetting passwords, even tried enabling domain keys and SPF - nogo.

In another forum post someone makes mention of hostpapa using a self signing certificate on their servers and that causes a strange security warning to pop up when you initially connect to your POP3 mail after setting the SSL configurations. Could this interfere with the servers ability to successfully deliver SSL mail?

ANYONE using SSL email on hostpapa servers please comment, good or bad - my business needs this resolved like yesterday!

I have changed my PHP contact form to send to an external email address until this is resolved and it seems to work. I can only assume that due to the nature of SSL it is encrypted!!

SSL config has been working for me with these settings:
incoming and outgoing servers: hp32.hostpapa.com
account name: your full email address
remember password
server requires authentication (settings .. same as incoming)
advanced settigns:
outgoing port 465 with SSL box checked
incoming port 995 with SSL box checked

The box should be checked before entering the port numbers
otherwise it will reset to default ports.

You will get the error warning when you start your mail program
unless you import the certificate, but I believe it is a shared certificate
so I don't know how this can be done. Some hostpapa support
staff seem to think it can be done. I just click OK in the alert box
when I start outlook.
