Hello,

I'm steadily getting my site together, and have a first page up with and embedded flash player progressively streaming an flv from a folder on my site - hosted here. Although I am still experimenting with file size by adjusting the bit rate on compressing the flv, it has to be said that the playback experience is still slow and halting.

I have read elsewhere that this might be due to sharing an IP address for my site hence slowing progressive streaming; so the question is do I pay extra to have an exclusive IP, or do I fork out for an external streaming media server..?

Best wishes

I would host your video on YouTube or Vimeo (I prefer Vimeo as your not limited to a time limit for your videos). The disadvantages are that YouTube sets flash cookies on your computer, and Vimeo uses Google Analytics, so these need to be mentioned in a Privacy Policy to cover your site.
